About

UIC Major:  Biological Sciences + Earth and Environmental Sciences

Future Goal:  My goal is to study infectious disease ecology in wildlife, and find out how climate change will impact spillover events of diseases from wildlife into humans. I would love to get a PhD one day, and maybe stay in academia or work for the CDC/WHO. Currently, I perform geomicrobiology research in UIC's Earth and Environmental Science Department! I also am a fellow with the University of Chicago's CACHET UP on EHS network, where we study the discrepancies between environmental health and various communities in Chicago.

Fun Fact:  People call me Granola Gracie- and it's probably not hard to figure out why! I'm a tree hugger, animal lover, scientist, and activist. I am passionate about education, science communication, environmental justice, and punk.

Study Tip to Share:  Flashcards are super handy in the class! Also, never be afraid to reach out for help. Learning how to get over that hesitancy has been one of my greatest learning experiences so far!
