-
sessions
Please visit the Academic Support page on our website to access available sessions. There is an open-access version of the schedule available here, however you will need to sign in with your UIC NetID to access more detailed information, such as virtual session links and host names.
-
appointment
No, you do not have to set up an appointment to meet with anyone holding a session. You are more than welcome to attend any session that best works for your schedule.
-
schedule
Unfortunately, you are not able to schedule one-on-one sessions. There might be times when you are the only person attending a session, but it depends on the day. Please visit tutoring.uic.edu to search for campus centers offering appointments for one-on-one support.
-
environment
The MSLC is a welcoming learning environment with modular seating to accommodate group study. Many of the walls are covered in dry-erase paint, so students often utilize this feature while studying together (please note: dry-erase markers are provided to all visitors!).
The MSLC can be very busy during exams with lots of visitors, and it is often louder than the library, but not as loud as a general space in Student Center East.
-
online session
Please send us an email (mslc@uic.edu) or chat (see interactive feature on lower right corner of this page) notifying us about this issue so we can help you. We will contact the session host to see if session has been canceled or for updated. We understand this can be very frustrating, so please do not hesitate to inform us!
-
study
Yes, you are more than welcome to study in our center. We have students who use our space to review material together before midterms and final exams. We also have desktop computers and printers available for student use.
-
employment
Please visit our Employment Page under the About Us tab for additional information. Due to high volume of applications, we cannot guarantee a correspondence to all applicants. Please follow instructions and complete all necessary steps to be considered for position.
-
space
Yes, please email us at mslc@uic.edu to make any reservations. As we receive several requests, please email us at least one week in advance.
We will provide guidelines for your group and share additional details during the reservation process. For large groups requesting space during general business hours, we may offer the Fishbowl room (SES 221) rather than the main MSLC facility.
-
course support outside MSLC
Most of our academic support is limited to Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, and Physics introductory courses at UIC.
If we do not have sessions available for your course, please check out the UIC Tutoring site for additional resources. This website allows you to search for tutoring by subject and course information.
